OneWorld is a not-for-profit organisation registered in the UK but working around the world. We aim to use Information and Communications Technologies and new media in innovative ways, empowering vulnerable people and communities worldwide with the information they need to improve their lives.

We see the immense opportunity to improve development outcomes and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by harnessing the power of data to improve programme design and decision-making. We are working with our partners to take that opportunity.

Our latest work has focused on reproductive health and rights for young people; democracy, good governance, and active citizenship; and maternal and infant health. We have recently been active in Senegal, Nigeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, Mozambique, Kenya, the DRC, Egypt, Cambodia, and Myanmar. We are always looking for opportunities to work in new places and address different themes.

This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role, helping run and develop a small, tight-knit organisation with a long pedigree of innovation in international development.

Our Director of Programme Design and Insight needs to:

  • be driven first of all to use their skills to support and empower some of the least powerful people on the planet
  • have an open-minded, optimistic, and entrepreneurial perspective that can help surface and drive forward innovative ideas for development
  • help lead diverse people and organisations to work together to achieve real outcomes
  • be keen to travel regularly to field assignments
  • be able to navigate the realities of international development, particularly the opportunities and difficulties of applying ICT and data-led approaches on the ground.
  • apply adaptive management (agile) approaches to programme design and implementation
  • practice (and preach) human-centred design.
  • be ready to apply their understanding of the power of data – both quantitative and qualitative – to improve development outcomes
  • roll up their sleeves and make things happen; and
  • be comfortable communicating in French with team members and partners in Francophone countries; and
  • have the right to live and work in the UK.
