In relation to expansion of AHF’s activities in Europe that are currently performed in 7 countries, we are herewith inviting interested candidates to apply for the following role:

 

COUNTRY PROGRAM MANAGER - UK

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides managerial and technical oversight for AHF’s UK programs, in collaboration with the governmental institutions and other partners, which includes but is not limited to: projects planning, monitoring and administration.
  • Supports the Rapid testing and linkage initiatives and ensures integration of services with treatment and care; provide directions for advocacy activities within AHF mission.
  • Ensures that monitoring and evaluation services support decision making in the delivery of quality services.
  • Assures that AHF´s core values are part of UK Program strategy.
  • Together with local partners and AHF Europe teams prepares and administers program budgets and strategic business plans, and evaluates financial program effectiveness.
  • Generates regular country program reports for Europe Bureau as required.
  • Serves as AHF's representative of the country program with implementing partners, private and public agencies, national AIDS programs, and major donor agencies. Represents AHF at meetings on HIV/AIDS issues, and maintains a wide-range of professional contacts with Government and non-governmental organizations.
  • Ensures that the AHF Procedure Manual is clearly communicated, implemented and adhered to.
  • Keeps abreast of HIV/AIDS best practices/resources and passes these resources to field staff.
  • Takes the lead in implementing new AHF expansion plans in any location in the country as  seen feasible and appropriate within the defines of available capacity and resources in a manner that promotes sustainability.
  • Provide management support, mentorship and direction to subordinates.
  • Undertake other tasks as required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Relevant graduate degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience;

Mathematical Skills

  • High Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 Reasoning Ability

  • High Skills:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in pursuit of deadlines;
  • Availability outside of regular office hours for activities and meetings, when needed;
  • Ability to practice discretion with confidential matters;
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, international environment.
  • Interest  and experience in: advocacy and public relations; HIV/AIDS related work; non-profit sector; development work in resource constrained settings; and
  • Oral and written fluency English is required
