The Livelihood Project aims to alleviate the stress and burden of being trapped in the poverty cycle by giving women access to small loans in order to expand or start a small business. The women participate in loan groups, with the members acting as a guarantor of each other’s loans. As well as providing the loans, AFAWI also offers business skills training in order to enhance the women’s skills and help improve their businesses.

The aim of the project is to sustainably fund the small loans and extend the program to as many women as possible.

By providing affordable loans and business education, this project is able to support the economic participation of women, promote gender equality and improve the economic welfare of women and their families.
