Egoengineering or geoengineering?
Interviewed about the need, or otherwise, for geoengineering to tackle climate change, Tim Kruger of the Oxford Geoengineering School in the UK - a participant in last week's Planet Under Pressure conference in London - said, "We need to change the way we lead our lives."
The question is, he told Radio 4's weekly Material World programme, will we reach the social tipping point before we reach the climate tipping point?
In other words, would people be ready to change their lifestyles before it's too late, and catastrophiic climate change kicks in?
"My fear is we may not," he said gloomily.
He encapsulated the race as ego-engineering or geo-engineering.
